Three Rivers Cruise on the MS Arena commencing 25/26th October

9 nights, 10 days on the Rhine, Main and Moselle with an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn, Dover the night before the Cruise.  

Day 1      UK - Andernach.  

We board our ship before enjoying Dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 2     Andernach - Rudesheim.  

We set sail for the quaint town of Rudesheim and arrive after lunch.  There are 2 optional excursions to enjoy today:

The first option gives you the chance to visit Segfried's Unique Mechanical Museum and later get a bird's eye view of the breath taking Rhine valley from a cable car trip.

Secondly, during the evening you an enjoy our optional tour to visit a traditional Wine Cellar.  Or of course, you can do both.  We are berthed overnight in Rudesheim.

Day 3     Rudesheim - Frankfurt - Mainz

Watch the scenery glide by this morning as we leave the Rhine and continue along the River Main to Frankfurt, Germany's Business and Finance Capital.  Frankfurt is a city of great diversity.  The old town with it's half-timbered houses and cobbled streets sitting alongside the world's largest stock exchanges and the gleaming headquarters of the European Central Bank.  Explore at leisure or join our optional city tour to discover the highlights and the Palmengaten, Frankfurt's famous gardens. This evening we re-join the Rhine and cruise to Mainz.

Day 4     Mainz - Cochem

This morning we set sail to the charming town of Cochem, where we arrive later this afternoon.  Cochem is located on the banks of the Moselle river and is dominated by the Reichsberg Castle which is over 1000 years old and was restored in the 19th century in neo-gothic style.  You have free time this afternoon to explore at leisure.  This evening we are berthed overnight in Cochem.

Day 5     Cochem - Bernkastel

We continue cruising along the Moselle this morning before arriving in the wine capital of Bernkastel later this afternoon.  Bernkastel is a quintessential medieval German town, featuring a charming market square with quaint cafes and streets lined with hal-timbered houses - the most famous of which is the narrow Spitzhauschen or "Pointed House".  This evening, join our optional tour to a local winery where you can sample some of the region's delicious wines.  Relax on board this evening as we are berthed overnight in Bernkastel.

Day 6     Bernkastel - Trier

There's free time to explore Bernkastel this morning before we set sail and cruise through picturesque  towns and villages reaching Trier this evening

Day 7     Trier - Treis Karden

This morning you have some free time exploring on of Germany's oldest cities.  Alternatively, you can join our optional walking tour of Trier for an insight into the fascinating history of the city, discovering many ancient Roman ruins as you go.  We return to the ship for lunch and set sail for Treis Karden.

Day 8     Treis Karden

We arrive in Treis Karden around lunchtime.  You can either relax on board the ship or explore at your leisure.  Alternatively, join our optional excursion to the quaint town of Zell.  Here you can take a walk around the old town where you can find plenty of wine shops, quiet cafes and restaurants .  The Marketplatz hosts many of the town's festivals and events and is also home to the 19th century Town Hall , housing the Mayor's office, town library and the Museum of wine and Local History.

Day 9     Treis Karden - Andernach

The town of Andernach was originally established in 12 BC by the Romans, making it one of the oldest towns in Germany and you are free to explore at your leisure.  Why not visit the Runder Turm (Round Tower) for amazing views of the town, or browse for local souvenirs in the many shops.  Alternatively, you can join our optional excursion to  Maria Laach Abbey, a six towered Romanesque Basilica and one of the most beautiful monuments in Germany which is also  home to over 60 monks.  There are 2 prayers and worships daily which are open to the public.  The abbey is situated next to the Laacher See, a volcanic lake surrounded by a nature reserve.  After our visit there will be free time to explore the Garden Centre overlooking the Eiffel Mountains before we continue with a picturesque journey to Arhweller for some free time.  We return to the ship for a relaxing last evening on board as we berth overnight in Andernach.

Day 10     Andernach - UK

This morning we bid farewell to our captain and crew and set off on our return journey to the UK.
